My work
I currently work for In The Making, an Ōtepoti Dunedin-based studio that blends architecture, urban and communication design skills to enable socially and environmentally resilient outcomes in the built environment. This work is wide-ranging, from residential architecture to community development strategy and urban policy consulting.

Before studying architecture, I worked as a draftsperson for a large civil engineering consultancy in the UK, which brings a pragmatic mindset and public sector experience, liaising with a variety of consultants and contractors.

My Approach
I am passionate about developing a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving, specifically where architecture intersects with communication design, and how spatial knowledge can inform a meaningful user interface and experience beyond built form.

When designing, I focus on how people access, engage with and move through space, and how it makes them feel. Beyond architecture, this involves the intentional use of typography and colour to create clear mood, legibility and direction.

Branding, identity and narrative are integral parts of how we experience and access our environment, and I believe a hybrid approach leads to more successful outcomes to the problems of our nuanced world.

Thesis
I am currently coming up to the end of my 5th year thesis, where I am exploring how applying a product design lens to architecture can inform a strategy to beta-test community buildings at a grassroots level, acting as a live feasibility study and an enabler for community groups to get what they want and need.
